Yosai Nobukazu

Nobukazu Yosai (Yosai Nobukazu, 1872)-Showa 19 (1944) is an ukiyo-e artist from the Meiji era.

A student of Toyohara Chikanobu. His surname is Watanabe, later Shimada, and his first name is Jiro. It is called Yangsai. I lived in Morikawa-cho, Hongo, Tokyo. The drawing period is from around 1887 (Meiji 20) to around 1907 (Meiji 40), and he mainly draws nishiki-e paintings of war objects such as the Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War. In addition, he has also worked on beauty paintings, genre paintings, expositions, the Constitution, Diet relations, and a series of "Tokyo Famous Places". Representative works include "Army and Navy Large Exercise Map", "General Staff Headquarters Conference Map", "Generalissimo Shimbashi's Departure Map", and "Dainippon Diet Building Map" and "Tokyo Famous Place Ueno Park". He also draws a series of three pieces such as "Kage". He also painted lithographs in the 20s of the Meiji era, and in his later years he drew handwriting. Year of enjoyment 73.
