Yoshitoyo Utagawa (Yoshitoyo Utagawa, first year of Tenpo <1830> --April 24, 1866
A student of Kunisada Utagawa and Kuniyoshi Utagawa. His real surname is Fukuyama, commonly known as Kanekichi (or Kenjiro). It is called Ichiryusai. It is said that Hatagoya near Ueno Sanbashi is a concubine child. At first, he studied painting with Kuniyoshi, but he left Kuniyoshi and entered Kuniyoshi's gate. Kuniyoshi was given the name of Yoshitoyo on purpose because it was just when Kuniyoshi called himself Utagawa Toyokuni. In other words, the character "Toyo" was placed under the character "Yoshi". The drawing period was from Ansei to Keio, and at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, in addition to samurai paintings, he specializes in measles paintings and kite paintings, and also draws Yokohama paintings. He died in Nihonbashi Shin-Osaka Town, 37 years old. The graveyard is Shokakuji Temple in Motoasakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo, and the name is Toyoyamain Toshinshi.
