Utagawa Kunimasa (birth and death unknown) is an ukiyo-e artist from Osaka during the Edo period.
The first student of Kunisada Utagawa. The surname is Mitani. They are called Gocho-tei, Gocho-sai, and Ichijuen. It was an unsealed house in Osaka Senba. At first, it was called Sadamasu, and after Kunisada took the name of the third generation Kunisada Toyokuni, it was renamed Kunisada. From Tenpo to Kaei, he drew Utagawa-style actor paintings, landscape paintings, and hand-painted paintings, and there are many prints drawn especially during the Tenpo period. Hanaebo (Tachikawa) Enba's rakugo reading book "Rakugo Senri Yabu" has a portrait of a group of rakugo storytellers.
In his later years, he turned to the Shijo school style of painting. Sadamasu is also very good at hand-painted paintings, and is one of the meritors who spread Utagawa-style Yakusha-e and hand-painted paintings to Osaka. There are many disciples such as Sadanobu Hasegawa, Nobuyuki Tetsusai, Sadayoshi Utagawa, Sadamaru Utagawa, Sadayuki, and Sadakatsu.
