Utagawa Kuniteru

Kuniteru Utagawa (Utagawa Kuniyoshi, birth and death unknown) is an ukiyo-e artist from the Edo period.

A student of Kunisada Utagawa (Toyokuni Utagawa, the third generation). His surname is Ota, and his common name is Kinjiro. It is called Gocho-tei, Shinsada-tei, Dosuisha, Ichiyusai, Yusai, Izumisai, Isshinsai, etc. The drawing period was from Bunsei to Ansei, and at first he was called Sadashige Utagawa, and until around the 4th year of Koka, he drew many nishiki-e such as children's drawings and lessons learned. "Sadashige Kai Kokuki-e" in the Nishiki-e "Hana no En Nissho no Akiudo" from Tenpo 14 (1843) to Koka 4 (1847), when the only seal was a single seal. It is believed that the name was changed from Sadashige to Kuniki during this period. It is also said that the name was changed to Kuniki around the 4th year of Koka. After changing to Kuniteru, he worked on many illustrations for gōkan from Kaei to Ansei, and also drew beauty paintings and actor paintings. Furthermore, after the 2nd year of Ansei (1855), the name was changed to Kuniteru II, and in June of the 2nd year of Ansei, "Kuniteru Kuniteru" was signed as "Kuniteru Kuniteru". He also competed with Yoshitsuya Utagawa to draw a tattoo sketch.
