Totoya Hokkei

Hokkei Uoya (Totoya Hokkei, Anei 9 <1780> --April 9, 1850 ) is an ukiyo-e artist in the late Edo period.

A student of Katsushika Hokusai. Among the Hokusai monks, it is said to be the best of both worlds along with Hokusai Hokuba. His surname is Iwakubo, and his first name is Hatsugoro. Later changed to Kinemon.諱 is Tatsuyuki. It is called Hokkei, Aoigaoka, Aoien, Hokkei, etc. It is called a fish store because it ran a fish store for the Matsudaira Shimamori family, the lord of the mother village, at Samegahashi, Yotsuya. At first, he learned from Korenobu Korenobu, and later became a Hokusai monk. After that, he started his life as a painter and moved to Akasaka Kiribatake and called him Aoioka. However, "Edo direction" is referred to as "Nagai-cho Sakana Hatsutaro" in the section of Akasaka and Hokkei.
