Ryusai Shigeharu

Ryusai Shigeharu (Kyowa 2nd year <1802> --Kaei 5th May 29th ) is an ukiyo-e artist from Osaka in the late Edo period.

Born as the second son of Zenemon Yamaguchi (named Oshimaya), a merchant in Nagasaki, Hizen Province. The popular name is Jinjiro Yamaguchi. Also known as Tamayagitei, Sozan, and Nichinaka. In the preface of "Actors and Customs Sangokushi" written by Gaiji Hanagasa, who had a close relationship with Shigeharu, he said, "... I like paintings, forget about sleeping and eating, learn without a teacher, see the truth, and finally form a family. In short, there was no fixed master of painting. It is said that he was a student of Ganjosai Kunihiro or Shigenobu Yanagawa, but it is not certain.
