Adachi Ginko

Adachi Ginkō (Adachi Ginkō, Kaei 6 (1853) -December 5, 1902) is an ukiyo-e artist from the Meiji era.

Master system unknown. The surname is Adachi and the first name is Heisei. At first, he was called Matsuyukisai Ginkō, and around 1870, he drew a nishiki-e of the Boshin War under the name of Ginkō, and after 1874, he changed his name to Ginkō. Also known as Matakumi and Matsusai. I lived in Horie Town and Minami Nabe Town, Nihonbashi. The drawing period was between 1870 (Meiji 3) and 1900 (Meiji 33), and in 1874, a large-format Nishiki-e 50th series of actors called "Kodan One-shot One-shot" was published by Ginko. Draw by name. Activities are conspicuous around the Nishiki-e "Kagoshima Shimbun / Kawajiri Honjinzu" and "Kagoshima Shimbun / Kumamoto Castle War Map" of the Satsuma Rebellion that occurred in 1877. There is also a work of "Tokyo Famous Place" under the name of Adachi Ginkō. After that, Nishiki-e, which can be said to be news paintings such as the Yang Water Horse, the Sino-Japanese War, the Boxer Rebellion, and parliamentary relations, followed, and also painted actors, plays, and famous places. In addition, beautiful genre paintings such as "Korean Meijin Kagami" and "Kimi Sewing Nozomi" are also well known.

In 1889, he was accused of blasphemy for drawing the "Tonchi Kenho Issuance Ceremony", which is a parody of the promulgation of the Constitution of the Empire of Japan, in the magazine "Tonchi Association Magazine" of Miyatake Gaikotsu. He was sentenced to a fine of 50 yen and 8 months of surveillance.
