Katsushika Isai (Katsushika Isai, Bunsei 4th year <1821> --Meiji 13th year <1880> June) is an ukiyo-e artist from the late Edo period to the Meiji period.
A student of Katsushika Hokusai. His real surname is Shimizu, commonly known as Souji. The surname of Katsushika is called "Suisakuraken" or "Suisakuraro". A person from Edo who lives in front of Asakusa Kuramae and around Mukaishima. The drawing period was from Kaei to the beginning of the Meiji era, and he worked on nishiki-e, printed book illustrations, and handwriting. He also visited Obuse Village in Shinshu twice and interacted with Kozan Takai and others. When the port of Yokohama was opened in 1859, it was said that it was well received by foreigners by drawing pictures for overseas export. In his later years, he lived in Yokohama and died there, at the age of 60.
