Jukodo Yoshikuni

Yoshikuni (Yoshikuni) is an ukiyo-e artist from Osaka during the Edo period.

It is presumed to be a student of Ran Eisai Ashikuni. A person from Osaka draws many actor pictures. The drawing period is from the 10th year of Bunka (1813) to the 3rd year of Tenpo (1832), during which several painting names and titles are used. Initially, he called himself Juyoshi, Ashimaro, and Ashimaru, and later changed his name to Yoshikuni around the 13th year of culture. In addition, you can see the names and issues of Hokoku, Hoshu, Jukoudou, Juhotei, and Jukoudou from the works. It is said that he is a master of Hanbei Shokosai because of the title "Juyoshi". In addition, there is one that uses the seal "Takaki", which is said to represent the name "Takagi" or "Takashiro". The surnames Toyokawa and Taka can also be seen in the seal.

He was one of the painters who popularized Yakusha-e in Osaka during the Cultural Bunsei period, and he is also active as a Kyoka artist "Kyoka Ren Yoshikuni". The students include Umekuni Jugyodo, Masakuni Jukakudo, Toshikuni Juyodo, Chikakuni Juhoudo, Fujikuni Jumatsudo, Kiyokuni Jushodou, Toyokawa Hidekuni, and Taka Yoshiyuki.
