Jippensha Ikku

Jippensha Ikku (Jippensha Ikku, Meiwa 2 (1765) --August 7, 1831 (September 12, 1831)) is a gesaku artist and painter in the late Edo period. The author of "Tokaido Nakagiri Kurige".

Born in Suruga Kokufu (Sunpu: present-day Aoi Ward, Shizuoka City) as a concentric child of Machi-bugyō. A monument to the birthplace is built in 1-chome, Ryogae-cho, Aoi-ku. His real name is Sadakazu Shigeta, and his childhood name is Ichiku. Commonly known as Yoshichi and Goro. It is called Drunko, Tokasha, etc.

He went to Edo and served as a samurai, and in 1783 (19 years old), he moved to Osaka and worked for Osakamachi-bugyō and Odagiri Naoto. He became a joruri writer and learned the Shino style of Kodo. In the first year of Kansei (1789) (25 years old), he co-produced Joruri's "Kinoshita Kagesakuma Battle" under the name of "Yoshichi Chikamatsu".
